Fall in love with boring

Every single mutual fund that I like, that my clients are invested in, that my family’s money is invested in is boring. ʙᴏʀʀʀʀʀʀɪɴɢ! I love boring, it gets me up in the morning. Let me explain…😎

▪️𝙿𝚕𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚎 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚌𝚑𝚊𝚜𝚎: Don’t chase your crush, fastballs high in the zone, or ridiculously tempting investment returns. Everyone – EVERYONE – knows a buddy that made a ton of loot on BitCoin, weed stocks or meatless burgers, these are trends. If you are chasing trends, sometimes you will hit them and sometimes you will miss greatly. ⁣ ⁣

▪️𝚆𝚑𝚎𝚗 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚎𝚖𝚋𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚎 𝚋𝚘𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐, 𝚒𝚝 𝚋𝚎𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚜 𝚎𝚡𝚌𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐: seeing your wealth grow year over year is addicting. ‘Trying’ cool and exciting things instead of adhering to a plan can be either exhilarating or demoralizing – boring is neither. Casinos are great, I love gambling twice a year when the stars align and I have interested friends a patient spouse and a babysitter (very rarely), but I do so in small quantities with the expectation to lose. Should that sound like your retirement strategy?

▪️𝙱𝚘𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚍𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚜𝚞𝚌𝚔: There are medium risk global mutual funds that have returned well into the double digits for eight and nine years running. They are super boring, but who wouldn’t like consistent double digit returns in a boring medium risk rating?
